    Abstract:

The effect of multi-axial compression on microstructure and mechanical properties of 7085 aluminum alloy extrusions was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) and tensile test. The results show that multi-axial compression could refine the grain size (from 87.7 μm to 17.9 μm) with the grain refinement mechanism of dynamic recrystallization, increase the tensile strength by 110 MPa which is primarily attributed to solution strengthening and aging strengthening
